Up North Vacationing
Homes for Sale and Real Estate
Whether your "Up North" is the "Near North" of Shawano, or the far reaches of Rhinelander, the truth is that in Wisconsin, "Up North" is just as much a state of mind as it is a piece of real estate. While you are searching for your perfect piece of Wisconsin "Up North" property, think about the quiet dew that sets in at night while the sun is setting and the crickets are just starting to come out. Or, if you are a morning person, while searching these properties on your laptop, imagine having your steamy coffee on a deck, overlooking a wooded river while an eagle soars overhead. Now that the scene has been properly set, carry on.
Social and friendly, other vacationers are looking to make friends and help watch out for each other's properties. Mixed ages and demographics, people travel from all over, sometimes internationally.

Around the Area
You will find Marinette on the state line, just before crossing the Menominee River into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Truly “Up North,” your vacation can include rest, relaxation, and even some activities when you are looking for them. Started in 2016, the “Marinette Logging and Heritage Festival” celebrates the rich heritage of the logging industry upon which the area was first founded. While in Marinette, visit the museum and Stephenson Island, named for Isaac “Ike” Stephenson, the legendary lumberman. Marinette is rich with architecture and history. Crivitz, to the west, is small town with many events like movies, music, barn dances, and water ski performances.
Not quite as far north, Oconto rests on the Oconto River and offers two spectacular camp grounds. Easy to locate, and both just off of Interstate 41, Holtwood Campground has many amenities directly along the river, while City Park gives you a more simple experience out in nature, mere feet from the Bay of Green Bay.
The Rhinelander, Minocqua, and Tomahawk area are vacation headquarters. In the summer, the water is your playground for boating, tubing, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. In the winter, the ice turns just as fun when you strap on snowshoes, or ice skates, or drill a hole for ice fishing.
Antigo and Shawano are loved by outdoor enthusiasts for their parks and waters. Fishing and hunting is abundant in every season. There are plentiful parks, pavilions and well maintained trails for walking and biking.
