Around the Area

Bayside

Located along the western shores of Lake Michigan, Bayside borders the Village of Fox Point to the south, Village of River Hills to the west, and City of Mequon to the north. Originally, the area was made up of a few large homes, summer cottages and farms. Today’s Bayside comprises approximately 2.39 square miles and is mostly residential with a unique, small-town feel.

Bayside is the home of the 1850-acre Schlitz Audubon Nature Center (SANC), located along Lake Michigan. SANC has over six miles of hiking trails and a 60-foot tall observation tower. It also offers Ellsworth Park for recreation including a baseball diamond, tennis courts, volleyball court, soccer fields, an ADA accessible playground and a pavilion for events and parties. A portion of Doctor's Park, a Milwaukee County Park, is located along Lake Michigan in the southeast corner of the Village.

Bayside offers predominantly suburban neighborhoods and subdivisions as well as townhomes and condominiums in close proximity to local shopping and amenities. It is located next to I-43, a major highway that conveniently connects it to the city to the south and even more recreational opportunities to the north.

River Hills

River Hills is a unique community offering country living and the conveniences of the city. In close proximity to I-43, the village offers an easy commute to work or visits to the City of Milwaukee.

With a wide of variety of single-family homes dating from the 1920s to new construction, architectural styles include English Tudor, French Country, Colonial, and Georgian Revival. While many lots are in the five-acre range, others can be found in larger acreage up to ten acres.

River Hills also offers large estates and secluded properties including riverfront properties. Its beautifully maintained landscapes offer recreational opportunities and include the 18-hole golf course of the Milwaukee Country Club. A variety of other amenities and city life, parks and other natural preserves are just a short drive away.

Whitefish Bay

Safety and a sense of community are two of the top reasons why residents choose Whitefish Bay to call home. This friendly community is located near Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee and offers a true “neighborhood” feel.

The Village of Whitefish Bay is also dedicated to green space and natural conservation and is part of the village’s smart growth plan. It is a Bird City of Wisconsin member in conjunction with the Whitefish Bay Garden Club.

FOX POINT

The Village of Fox Point, otherwise know as “Tree City USA,” is a suburban residential community of 2.8 square miles that offers a serene location, complete with wooded areas and ravines in close proximity to Lake Michigan. Officially incorporated in 1926, it is bordered on the east by Lake Michigan, the west by I-43, the north by the Village of Bayside, and the south by the Village of Whitefish Bay.

Residents enjoy top-notch schools, high quality services, a wide range of housing and local businesses options, and a convenient location near downtown Milwaukee. The housing market offers ranch, Colonial, English Tudor, Mediterranean, and Cape Cod, in addition to historic mansions on Lake Drive along Lake Michigan.

Fox Point offers a wide variety of shopping and dining choices including a 10 minute commute to Bayshore Town Center. The village also maintains the Fox Point Municipal Swimming Pool, and residents may also choose from private tennis courts and pool clubs available in the area.

 

SHOREWOOD

Shorewood is know to be “just two feet from everything,” because of its proximity to the City of Milwaukee, it location between Lake Michigan and a major river and its incredible offering of amenities. Shorewood was established in 1900 as the Village of East Milwaukee and renamed the Village of Shorewood in 1917. It covers a small geographical space, measuring only a mile by a mile-and-a-half. Close to everything, Shorewood is near the lake, the city of Milwaukee, a major university, a school district known and recognized for excellence, local businesses, bike trails, parks and friendly, well-educated neighbors who care deeply about their community.
